COOP CLASSES FIELD TRIPS SPECIAL EVENTS LIBRARY DHF FEES
Definition: Co-op is a twice a month meeting in an academic setting. Children are grouped into similar aged classes and are taught agreed upon subjects. The purpose is to provide opportunity for group learning and interaction, utilizing the giftings of the teachers. Subjects and methods of teaching that are difficult to do in a home setting are encouraged (group discussions, science experiments, etc.). Specific fees may be required on a class by class basis to cover costs to the teachers.
Participation : Each parent in the co-op group is expected to be teaching or helping while their children are in classes. Everyone is expected to attend all class sessions (except for illness). UP
Definition : Field trips are organized outings planned by the participating parents. Field trips are selected during a planning session at the beginning of the year on the basis of their educational value and interests of the field trip group. We generally try to schedule one field trip per school month (Sept. - May). Specific fees or expenses may apply to some field trips.
Participation : Each parent in the field trip group is expected to plan and organize one field trip event for the school year. This includes making reservations, collecting any fees ahead of time, producing a fact sheet and reminding participants when it is close to trip time. While not everyone is required to attend all field trips, if you sign up for a field trip you are expected to be there. Some locations provide discounts to a specific number of participants and your non-attendance could affect the entire group. UP
Definition: Special events are planned periodically throughout the year to provide opportunities for fellowship. Some events are planned for Saturday and others are planned to celebrate special calendar events. Current planned activities are but are not limited to: Beginning of the year picnic, Christmas party, Valentine’s Day party, end of year Open house, and Field day.
Participation : Every member of the co-op is expected to help in some manner on at least one special activity. UP
Homeschool Lending Library : Our homeschool library is maintained at Drexel First Baptist. It is available for use by the members of the group. It contains curriculum resources as well as homeschool books on a variety of topics. Please see the policy regarding Lending Library use. UP
Payment of the fee allows you to become a member of the group receive library privileges, access to member only website, and notification of activities. You may also sign up for field trips and/or co-operative teaching classes.
